White T-Shirt Transfers Use & Care Instructions Printworks White T-Shirt Transfers have a fade-resisting transfer formula and cool-peel technology that makes printing, handling and washing them easy. Create personalized shirts, bags, hats and sports apparel for your friends, family or next special event. Printworks White T-Shirt Transfers are to be used on white cotton or cotton/poly blend fabrics. For best results, read all instructions before proceeding!What you need Inkjet printer New, white cotton or cotton/poly blend fabric. Using this transfer paper on colored fabric will result in the fabric color showing through the entire design. Pillowcase (this will be placed between your fabric and ironing surface) Household iron (for best results, check bottom of iron for smooth, flat surface to ensure 100% coverage when ironing) Ironing surface (must be smooth, hard and non-porous. Do not use an ironing board.)Preparing your fabric for transferRefer to the label to be sure your fabric is cotton or a cotton/poly blend. Iron your fabric, if necessary, to remove any wrinkles. Allow fabric to cool before applying your transfer You may use any computer software program that manipulates then prints images. The most commonly used are Microsoft Word and PowerPoint or Adobe Photoshop . When designing the graphics and/or image, keep in mind that this transfer is translucent and omit or void areas within the design will remain translucent after your transfer1. Your image must be printed as a REVERSE OR MIRROR IMAGE. This is especially important if your image includes letters or numbers. Refer to your printer manual for instructions on settings to achieve a reversed or mirrored image. If your printer does not have any of these options, you must reverse the image through your software Test Print: We recommend FIRST printing your image on a plain piece of paper to ensure desired size and image location. (Note: You may do this is in fast or draft mode to conserve ink.)3. Print on the blank side of the transfer. Load the transferpaper into your printer according to your printer type. 4. Select Print from the File Click Preferences, Properties or Options (depending on your printer) from the Print Change the printer settings using the closest paper type for Iron-On T-Shirt Transfers. Allow print to dry for at least 30 minutes before proceeding to NOT USE THIS TRANSFER PAPER WITH A LASER PRINTER! Do not use steam setting. If iron has steam nozzle, use area on iron without nozzle for even Cut out design: Leave a 1/8" border around your image. The border will be translucent once it has been ironed onto your fabric. (See Figure A.)3. Place wrinkle-free pillowcase on a hard, smooth, non-porous ironing surface (a waist-high or lower surface will maximize the amount of pressure you are able to apply). Do not use a glass surface or an ironing board. (See Figure B.) Lay fabric on top of the pillowcase and smooth it with your hands to ensure the transfer area is wrinkle free. 4. Place the transfer image side down onto your fabric in the desired position. Position transfer edge about 3" away from edge of ironing surface to allow firm pressure. (See Figure C.)5. Iron transfer with firm pressure, using both hands and body weight, in a straight, non-stop motion right-to-left and bottom-to-top for 2 minutes for a full sheet (90 seconds for sheet). (See Figure D.) If using an iron with a soleplate (the bottom) with recessed channels, extra ironing up to 1 additional minute may be needed. Keep iron moving at all times to prevent scorching. Stop ironing if the transfer begins to yellow. Transfer should be stuck to the fabric if you can see an edge of the transfer s backing paper lift off the transfer. Make one final pass with the iron around the transfer s edges to ensure complete adhesion. (See Figure E.)6. Allow fabric to cool completely. Hold the fabric and transfer in place with one hand. Smoothly and evenly peel away transfer s backing with the other hand. 3/14 (Item #00348)Transferring your image with an iron (adult supervision is alwa ys recommended for children)Care and handling Wait at least 24 hours before washing or wearing your garment. This is to allow the best possible ink drying. To prolong the vibrancy of the transfer, wash garment inside out in cold water. Do not use bleach. Remove garment as soon as the wash cycle is complete. With garment inside out, tumble dry using dryer settings based on the fabric material. If ironing fabric is desired, do not iron directly on the out imageleaving 1/8" tabletopFigure B. RUNFigure ! Proper heat, pressure and time are all required for a successful transfer. The more pressure applied when ironing, the better your results.
